Calligraphy Insular majuscule

More correctly termed insular half - uncial. This is one of the most beautiful text hands ever produced. Originating in Ireland, southern Scotland and northern England.

It dates from the seventh century.


Supreme examples are the book of kells in Dublin and the Lindisfarne gospels in London.
